Champagne Powder Stash

As usual, the Adventure Base powder hounds have been out and about from the moment the snow arrived, on the search for the ultimate turns in champagne pouff (French for ’powder snow’ btw!).

While it’s been bitterly cold in Chamonix (-20!), the Adventure Base team have been enjoying some good off piste adventures at Grand Montets, early season touring off the back of La Tour, and top quality hot chocolate in Italy. But it seems that maybe we’ve been looking for powder in entirely the wrong place.

Dismissing the UK snow news as ‘leaves on the line’ hype, we were surprised to receive this Christmas photo from ex Adventure Base host, Dan. Not a distant memory from his season in Chamonix last year, but taken just a couple of days ago on the SOUTH DOWNS near Brighton.

Good effort for getting the skis and skins out in Brighton, and who knew that the British sky could look so blue!!!

Fortunately, the cold, dry snap is over in the Alps, and Chamonix too is enjoying new snow, with more on the way this week. Congratulations to all our Christmas guests, who have managed to battle the road closures, train delays, and airport carnage, and made it here in one piece – ready to enjoy a perfect white Christmas!

Have a good one xx
